New Year, New Meetings!

Now that 2023 is firmly upon us, some of our committee positions are changing. Whether you’re rotating on for the first time in a while, or staying on from last year, you’ll want to keep up with your upcoming meetings.

The following committee meetings are scheduled in the month of January:

  • Church Council: Sunday, January 8th at 6:30pm in the sanctuary

  • United Women in Faith: Wednesday, January 11th at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall

  • Trustees: Monday, January 16th at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall

  • Missions: Tuesday, January 17th at 6:30pm in the Good News Classroom

  • Staff-Parish Relations: Monday, January 23rd at 6:30pm via RingCentral

  • Worship: Tuesday, January 31st at 6:30pm in the Good News Classroom

Additionally, the following groups will be resuming their normal meeting schedules as detailed below:

  • Coffee & Conversation: every Monday at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall

  • Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen: the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00am

  • Chancel Bells: every Wednesday at 6:00pm in the sanctuary

  • Chancel Choir: every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the chancel loft

  • Aldersgate Ringers: beginning January 11th, then every Wednesday at 1:30pm in the sanctuary

  • *Prayer Shawl: we are waiting to hear when this group plans to resume meeting.

  • *Plentiful Harvest Kitchen: due to a schedule swap, we are serving here on Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00pm; this is not a monthly occurrence, and will be announced accordingly

If you notice that a group or meeting has been left out of this post, please contact Dallas in the Church Office and let him know. Moving forward, there will be a post of this nature at the beginning of each month, in the hopes of keeping everyone as informed as possible of the goings-on in our church.

Men's BBQ Sales

Once again, the Men are selling BBQ to raise money for their missions.  No change in price, 1 Pound:  $10, 1 Boston Butt (5-6 Lbs Avg):  $40.  You can order online at  www.aumcblog.com/bbq to order.  We will have the BBQ available Friday evening, Nov 9th, from 6-8 PM.  Any BBQ not picked up and any extras, will be left in the Kitchen refrigerator and will be available for pick up Sunday after each service.

Quilts of Valor Presentation

*** SPECIAL NOTICE *** On Saturday, October 21st, the Quilts of Valor Awards Ceremony in Rock Hill, South Carolina will be “Live Broadcast” via YouTube. Streaming of this “World-Wide” broadcast will begin at 12:50 PM East Coast Time. At this time, we will have ten minutes to establish a connection and sound check prior to the program starting at 1:00 PM East Coast Time. The entire ceremony is scheduled to last 1½ hours. This would be an excellent opportunity for your friends and family who do not live in the area to observe you receiving a Quilt of Valor. They just need to log onto YouTube at the proper time to watch the broadcast. The broadcast will be under QUILTS OF VALOR ROCK HILL SC. This will be the first time known to have a QOV live broadcast, so, if we lose signal, at least you know we tried.

Here is how to access the YouTube live broadcast:
1. Log onto YouTube (Google Chrome or Foxfire is the best server to view a live broadcast) 
2. Enter in search line QUILTS OF VALOR ROCK HILL SC press enter
3. Locate and select the small button that says FILTER
4. Under the FEATURES section select LIVE
5. Scroll and select QUILTS OF VALOR ROCK HILL SC
6. ENJOY…
7. The interaction/comments option will be shut-off so there should be no interruptions in the broadcast.
