A change of attitude! When we think of ourselves as Christians what characteristics come to mind? Maybe bold witness, faithful steward but how about characteristics like humility, kindness and a forgiving spirit. When I was a child it was so hard to be forgiving and so many reasons as the oldest child with two rowdy brothers and a little sister who shared a room with me, it wasn’t hard for me to have something to complain about. When grudges and “He started it!” fills the air turmoil runs the family. God helped me find an attitude adjustment when I was 10. I do not remember the incident but I remember rather than blaming, I took a good hard look at myself and I did not like who I was. God helped me change my attitude. I wish I was always a forgiving spirit but it is hard to justify our complaints to a God who died for all of our wrongs! Christ challenges us to live in a state of kindness and forgiveness and humility. The next time you are aggravated at a wrong you feel was done to you, remember a wrong you did to someone else and ask for forgiveness. No matter how wronged we feel we are, I promise you, we have probably been unkind and even more sinful than those we feel have wronged us. What a sweet spirit will fill our halls when “ forgiveness and kindness and humility“ become the order of the day. Complimentary water and soft drinks will be provided for our workers and vendors through-out the day (coolers located in vendor lounge), and Ron's Bar-B-Que will be on site serving sandwiches and plates for a nominal charge. Outdoor workers are encouraged to inform visitors that MORE vendors, the silent auction, bake sale, and door prize registration are located indoors. Last year there apparently was a "disconnect" with many shoppers unaware of all the activities and opportunities available within the church building itself. We encourage everyone to enjoy the beautiful day that God is going to provide on Saturday. Let's take advantage of some fabulous shopping, enjoy the company of fellow church members, and show our vendors and visitors alike Aldersgate's warm and friendly hospitality. Lastly, this is an appeal to one and all who might be able to stay or return to help with breakdown and clean up after the event ends at 2P. M. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!! The more help we have the quicker we can all get off our feet and return home. Cleaning crew will come at 5 P. M. Our job is primarily to put things back in place for Sunday worship. "Vendor Paradise" could not take place without months of preparation and help from SO many in our church family. UMW thanks everyone for the help, love, and dedication that make our event so popular and successful each year. See you Saturday and GOD BLESS. Many of these children have given their hearts to Jesus. Aldersgate’s mission project now through Nov. 10 will be Operation Christmas Child. Kids’ Club and Girl Scouts will be participating groups. Lists of materials needed to fill the shoeboxes will be available on the table in the narthex. You may fill a shoebox, a shoebox size plastic container or Operation Christmas Child boxes that will be available in church on Sundays. Instead of filling a shoebox, you may buy items for others to pack and place them in the large box in the narthex after the Vendor Fair. You also may donate cash for shipping the boxes overseas to nearly 100 countries. All shoeboxes and materials for shoeboxes are needed by Nov. 10 to meet the deadline for Christmas Child to deliver them overseas before Christmas. If you have questions, call Dixie Click at 328-8173.
