Proverbs 18 says that there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Pastor John Hagee told a story of two friends who went back-packing in the forest for several days. As they rounded a bend they saw a grizzly bear ahead. Immediately, one of the men sat down, took off his hiking boots, and put on his tennis shoes. “What are you doing? You can’t outrun a grizzly bear,” the other man said. The first replied, “I don’t have to outrun the bear. I just have to outrun you.” Trials and tribulations are times when we find out who our true friends really are. We live life in the company of many people. But when trials come, sometimes those who we thought to be our best friends and even family, may turn away.
But we find in Jesus a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He stays with us, keeps us through the trials and brings His provisions to meet our every need! If you’ve been let down by others, allow Christ to pick you up, today. -- Ben
