A pastor friend shared this prayer from John Wesley with his congregation. I think it is a good way to start this New Year.
O Lord….Let me treat all my neighbors with that tender love due to thy servant and to thy children. Thou hast required this mark of my love to thee: O let no temptation expose me to ingratitude or make me forfeit thy loving kindness, which is life itself, but grant that I assist all brethren with my prayers where I cannot reach them with actual service. Amen
When I started school my teacher had a way of reminding me of important rules. You stayed in during recess and wrote the important rule over and over again. Perhaps we need to pray this prayer over and over until it sinks in that God requires the very best from us. SO before we slip in disobedience before God we need to remember how we should conduct ourselves. This is a great way to begin this new year.
My heartfelt appreciation to our church for your ongoing prayers and support for me as pastor. During Advent your kindnesses, cards and gifts meant the world to me. Thank you also for the monetary gift the church took up for all the staff. We all are grateful for your kindnesses.
We have wonderful news to begin the New Year as a church.
We completed the past year paying 100% of our apportionments for 2013! God is an amazing God when we let God lead us, and you are a wonderful church for helping make this possible.
